The multi-award winning ensemble Serenade Duo featuring flutist Michelle LaPorte and guitarist Gerry Saulter bring concert music of the world to life with their warm presence and engaging interpretations of diverse repertoire. Through innovative thematic programming their vision is to make music accessible and enjoyable for audiences of all ages across the globe. In recognition of this ideal, the Duo was honored with a Suffolk County Certificate of Appreciation for Diverse Community Programs.
Serenade Duo has performed for audiences throughout the United States, Canada and Europe in such magnificent venues as the American Church in Paris, the United States and New Zealand Embassies in Paris, International Schools of Paris and Ireland, American Cathedral in Paris, St. Lawrence Jewry / Guild Hall in London, St. John’s Church in Stratford London, St. Ann’s Church Dublin, and Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico in San Juan. The artists have also performed extensively with many Arts Councils, libraries, museums, and educational institutions throughout the world. The Duo has been heard on WHSU Public Radio and has appeared on television with WLIW/PBS, News 12 Long Island, FiOS 1, and KCTU Kansas.
As five time Chamber Music Award Recipients from Artists International, Serenade Duo has performed numerous sold out performances at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall and Merkin Concert Hall in New York City. As recording artists the ensemble can be heard on Centaur Records. The Duo is an ensemble member of Chamber Music America and the Delian Music Society.
MICHELLE LAPORTE, flute
Michelle LaPorte is an acclaimed flutist and Miyazawa Performing Artist who plays throughout the world in chamber music recitals and solo performances. She is an Associate Professor and the Coordinator of Woodwind Studies at Five Towns College, New York and an Adjunct Faculty member at Suffolk County Community College teaching flute, music history and music fundamentals.
Ms. LaPorte earned a Master of Arts Degree in Music from Long Island University and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Performance from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
GERRY SAULTER, guitar
Gerry Saulter is a renowned classical guitarist who performs across the globe as a soloist and chamber musician. He is the Deputy Director of the Music Division, as well as the Director of Applied Music at Five Towns College, New York. Professor Saulter is also the Founder/Artistic Director of the Annual Fall Festival of Guitar at the college.
Mr. Saulter holds a Masters of Music Degree from Five Towns College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Performance from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is proud to be an endorsed artist with D’Addario Strings, Alhambra Guitars, Fishman Music and Dieter Hopf guitars.
